ebm-papst

The ebm-papst Group is recognised as a global market and technology leader in the field of air and drive technology. With around 3,900 employees (production and administration), the company headquarters in Mulfingen is the Group's largest location.

As part of occupational health management (OHM), the company is very committed to the health and well-being of its employees. The company offers its employees targeted programmes and regular prevention and health campaigns are carried out.

The challenge:

ebm-papst was looking for an original health promotion measure (BGF) for its office staff that could activate the previously "silent" employees for a health programme and motivate them to adopt health-conscious behaviour.

Participation rate challenge:

Like many companies with an established health management programme, ebm-papst offers a broad portfolio of health-promoting measures to meet the individual needs of its employees. Despite this diverse and finely differentiated offering, there were a large number of employees in the company who never or only rarely took advantage of it. A common problem with health promotion is that it usually only appeals to health-conscious employees. The difficulty lies in finding effective programmes that also appeal to those who otherwise stay away from health programmes.

From the initial meeting to the rollout:

The first contact

During an initial discussion, it emerged that Deep Care appeared to be a promising partner in this scenario for jointly addressing this challenge. The idea of a digital health assistant that accompanies employees in their everyday lives and thus tackles the development of desk-related health risks directly at the behavioural level convinced the ebm-papst BGM team straight away.

Alignment of the model to individual needs

Finding a suitable utilisation concept, on the other hand, was an iterative process. Initially, the costs of permanently purchasing a large number of devices and the associated logistical effort for the OHM were identified as problematic. The valuable feedback was ultimately incorporated into a new usage concept called "ISA on Demand", in which employees can register independently and flexibly for several weeks of support from ISA via an online portal. ebm-papst thus offers employees "help for self-help" by allowing them to use ISA for an initial six weeks to reflect on their own behaviour and develop healthy habits.

The ideal utilisation model

The BGM defines a maximum annual usage quota, and Deep Care then takes care of the entire processing of ISA bookings. The combination of a low-threshold and original health programme for employees on the one hand and a low-cost and risk-free BGF measure thanks to a pay-per-use system on the other meant that an originally planned pilot project could be skipped.

Target achievement

The initial contingent was fully booked just two weeks after the start of the project, making it a complete success. By adjusting the utilisation quota, ebm-papst can now vary the range as required.
