
Mental health is of central importance for the individual well-being and performance of employees in companies. It not only affects quality of life, but also has a significant economic impact.
Reduction of absenteeism
Mental health problems, especially stress-related illnesses, are among the most common causes of absenteeism in the workplace. According to the health report published by Techniker Krankenkasse in 2023, mental illness is the second most common cause of incapacity to work in Germany. They make 17.5% of all days absent and the trend is rising. This trend has become particularly pronounced in times of uncertainty and stress (such as during the pandemic).
Employee loyalty and satisfaction
Companies that promote the mental health of their employees create an environment that increases well-being and satisfaction. According to a survey conducted by the Ias Foundation in 2024 76.6% of small and medium-sized enterprises the influence of mental health on employee satisfaction strongly or very strongly. Good mental health support can therefore lead to higher employee retention and lower staff turnover.
